Listeria In Hummus Prompts National Recall By Sabra

  Due to presence of  potentially deadly listeria in several samples of Hummus national recall has been prompted by Virginia-based Sabra Dipping Co. of 30,000 cases of Classic Hummus.

  Till now, No illness/sickness caused by report have been reported and recall by the Sabra Dipping Co. is voluntary. The contamination is detected when a random sample was collected from at a Michigan store on March 30 tested and was positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The members of SKU for affected Hummus tubs has been listed on the FDA’s website.

 FDA issued a list of products in the sabra humus recall. So if anyone has purchased any of these items is urged to dispose that product or return to the store for full return.

 Till now this recall is only limted to five stock unit, or SKU, numbers of Classic Hummus. And no other Sabra product is affected at this time.

 Listeria monocytogenes are very dangerous. They may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, nausea, severe headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain. But it can cause serious, and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. And Listeria can cause stillbirths and miscarriages among pregnant women.
